Pátzcuaro Day of the Dead

IMG_0083.JPG

The two most reknowned areas to experience Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico are Oaxaca and Michoacan.

We have come to greatly appreciate the Purepecha people and their celebration in and around Patzcuaro, Michoacan.

On Oct. 29th 2010, Come experience the rich history, culture, traditions and fabulous folk art being created in this magical region of Míchoacan surrounding beautiful Lake Pátzcuaro.    The timing of this tour with Dias de los Muertos elevates the sense of celebration of mestizo and indigenous cultures. The majority of our time is spent in the incredibly lush state of Míchoacan and the colonial town of Pátzcuaro.  Short trips around the lake take us to artisans in furniture, mask making, copper ware, barro (ceramics) and weaving.  While there are many bargains to be found, the natural beauty of the colonial town teeming with the festivities of Day of the Dead....street scenes of folk art vendors, cafés, open air fruit & vegetable markets and flower vendors make it a photographers dream!  We’ll spend time at the all night vigil on a small island on Lake Patzcuaro. You’ll feel privileged to be welcomed and enjoy a memorable cultural experience.

We return to Guadalajara for a tour of Tequila.  We'll enjoy a tour of a famous tequila brand and spend lunch in this charming town.

It's a very special tour and limited in participation.

Oct. 29-Nov. 5, 2010   $2500  plus roundtrip air to GDL.   $500 ss
