Festival Alfonso Ortiz Tirado Jan. 19-24, 2011
2011 we'll be celebrating our 16th year
we’ve attended this magical event. You'll spend the first night at the classic Playa de Cortes property on
Playa Bacochibampo. We celebrate our first evening sipping margaritas as another spectacular sunset passes before us
on the Sea of Cortez. For our time in Alamos we’ll stay at the
charming Casa Encantada. Those looking for a relaxed pace to fully enjoy all that Alamos has to offer, will absolutely
love this tour. There is a plethora of music throughout the day at various locations throughout town; the evening performances
in the Grand Palacio are classical in nature. Highlights include: a traditional carne asada fiesta, Home and Garden
Tour, private performance of the Estudiantina of Alamos, afternoon music in the Plaza del Armas, the “art walk”
and evening performances in the Palacio followed by the Callejoneada- a strolling serenades a-la 11-12th century Spain. With
a wine packed burro in tow, you’ll stroll the cobblestone streets with the Estudiantina and revelers singing songs of
chivalry, love and happiness. It won’t matter if you understand Spanish, the surreal spectacle transcends language. You'll
have opportunities to experience the Mayo, Yaqui, Seri, and other indegenous cultures though different events & workshops.
Explore the historic "panteon" or cemetary. Enjoy afternoon hikes into the virgin tropical forest
and incredible cultural and natural photo opportunities. Jan. 19-24, 2011 $1200. per person $300
